I have taught  in two school systems over the past 29 years.   My first teaching assignment was with Norfolk Public Schools where I taught First Grade for six years at Washington Elementary prior to my marriage.   In 1991 I began my teaching career at St. Edward. I taught First Grade for seventeen years and then a Kindergarten/First Grade Combination Room for one year.  The past five years have been spent as the Kindergarten teacher here in Saint Edward.  I truly enjoy working with young learners. No school day is the same as the little ones are full of energy and enthusiasm for learning new things.

I was born and raised in Norfolk, NE.  I am the oldest in a family of two children and have a younger sister Cheryl.  I attended Jefferson Elementary, Norfolk Jr. High and Norfolk Senior High School and graduated in 1981.    I decided to follow in my Mom's footsteps and become an Elementary School teacher when I graduated from high school.  My college career began at Northeast Community College where I earned my Associate of Arts degree.  I enjoyed running the Customer Service Desk at Alco Discount Store during my high school and college years when I was not in class.  I transferred to Wayne State College where I earned my Bachelors Degree in 1985.  My student teaching experience was working in Grades 4/5/6 at Washington Elementary and although I enjoyed teaching older children my heart was in Primary Education.  In May of 1985 I was hired to teach First Grade for Norfolk Public School and earned my Master of Science in Elementary Education in 1989.

I met my husband Dean in 1990 and we were married in November 1991.   I began teaching First Grade at St. Edward Elementary in the Fall of 1991.  In 1996 my husband and I were blessed with our twin daughters, Christina and Alicia.  Our family moved into town in the Fall of 1997.  We are members of Faith Lutheran Church and our girls are Juniors at St. Edward High School.  We farm in the Cedar Rapids, Greeley and Wolbach areas and raise corn and soybeans. I enjoy camping, boating, baking and reading in my spare time. I serve as President of The Saint Edward Early Learning Center Preschool.   My husband and I seem to keep busy attending the many high school activities our girls are involved in.
